Road cycling holidays in Switzerland: one house for 10–12 riders

For a group of 10–12 road cyclists the house works as a base for a week: 12 beds, 5 bathrooms with a shower, a washing machine and a dryer for kit, a table for 12, and a hot tub and an infrared sauna after the climb. Sion, the start of the climb to the Grande Dixence dam, is about 28 minutes away by car.

Climbs from the house, with numbers

  • Sion to Grande Dixence: 26.6 km, 1,650 m of climbing, 6.2% on average, 10% at most, finish at 2,141 m
  • Thyon 2000: about 20.5 km at about 7.7% (media source, not the operator)
  • Martigny to the Great St Bernard: 42.1 km, 2,046 m of climbing, pass at 2,472 m; Martigny is 46.8 km from the house, about 45 minutes by car; take a light for the galleries after Bourg-Saint-Pierre

Drive times: drive time by car from the house or from the Les Masses chairlift, calculated 15.10.2026; “about” marks an estimate. In the mountains and in winter, add 15–30%.

Twelve beds: who sleeps where

Four bedrooms with a 160×200 double bed, a ground-floor studio with a sofa bed and a mezzanine with 2 single beds. That makes 12 places, so most riders share a bed; with 10, the sofa bed or the singles stay free.

When to come and what a week costs

The road to the Grande Dixence dam opened on 4 June in 2026 and is closed in winter. The Tour des Stations, a road cycling event, has its 10th edition on 28.08.2027.

Sample summer week, read 19.10.2026: 3–10.07.2027, rent EUR 2,887.03 for the whole house (on request). With 12 riders that is about EUR 43 per person per night, cleaning and linen included, tourist tax CHF 3 per adult per night extra.

Is Les Collons a good base for a road cycling camp?

For climbers, yes. Sion to Grande Dixence is 26.6 km with 1,650 m of climbing, Thyon 2000 about 20.5 km, and Martigny to the Great St Bernard 42.1 km. Sion is about 28 minutes from the house by car.

Thyon has 12 MTB routes, 246 km in total. A Tour du Mont-Fort day pass for adults cost CHF 55 in summer 2026.
