Privacy policy

This page explains which personal data this website processes, why, and what your rights are. In short: no accounts, no payments and no booking system here; statistics only after your consent; your e-mail only when you write to us.

1. Who we are

The controller for personal data processed on this website is Małgorzata Wiśniewska, Chalet Étoiles des Neiges, Route de la Darbelenna 40, 1987 Hérémence, Switzerland, e-mail chalet@snowstars.ch.

We process data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, in force since 1 September 2023). For visitors from the EU/EEA and the UK this page also gives the information required by the GDPR and the UK GDPR, including the legal basis of each processing.

2. What data we process

Server logs. When you open a page, our hosting provider Cloudflare processes technical data: IP address, date and time, requested page, browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the page and to protect it against attacks. We do not use these logs to identify you.

Consent cookie. Your choice in the cookie banner is stored on your device in a cookie named "klaro".

Statistics (only after your consent). Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, records pages viewed, device type, approximate location (country or region), language and events such as clicks on the booking link. Nothing from Google loads before you click "Accept". We use Google Consent Mode v2: without your consent Google receives no analytics data from this website.

Contact. Questions about dates and bookings go to Alpvision Résidences (phone and e-mail shown on the site); the agency then processes your data as a separate controller. If you write to us at chalet@snowstars.ch, we process your e-mail address, your name and the content of your message. There is no form on this site that sends data to our server.

3D tour. The virtual tour (Matterport, Inc., USA) loads only when you click on it. Your browser then connects to Matterport's servers, which receive your IP address and technical data.

YouTube videos. On some pages a video starts only after you click play. Your browser then connects to YouTube (Google) servers in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which receive your IP address and technical data.

This website has no user accounts, no payments and no booking system of its own.

3. Why we process data and on what legal basis

Server logs: to run a secure, working website. GDPR: Art. 6(1)(f), legitimate interest.

Consent cookie: to remember your choice for 12 months so that the banner does not return on every visit. GDPR: Art. 6(1)(f); Switzerland: Art. 45c Telecommunications Act (strictly necessary storage).

Statistics: to see which pages help guests plan a stay and whether our advertising works. GDPR: Art. 6(1)(a), your consent. You can withdraw it at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer; withdrawal does not affect processing done before.

E-mail contact: to answer you and, if you want to book, to help you with Alpvision. GDPR: Art. 6(1)(b), steps at your request before a possible contract, and Art. 6(1)(f). Giving these data is voluntary; without them we cannot reply.

4. Who receives data

Cloudflare, Inc., San Francisco, USA: hosting and content delivery through a global server network, including servers in the EU.

Google Ireland Limited, Dublin, Ireland, and Google LLC, USA: Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 (after consent) and our mailbox (Google Workspace).

Alpvision Résidences Veysonnaz Sàrl, Route de Pra 2, 1993 Veysonnaz, Switzerland: when you call, e-mail or message the agency via the links on this website, or when you ask us to pass your enquiry on so that the agency can prepare a booking. Alpvision is a separate controller; its own privacy policy applies (alpvisionresidences.com). The booking link carries campaign parameters (UTM) that tell Alpvision you came from this website; they contain no personal data.

Authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell your data. Cloudflare and Google process data in the USA. These transfers rely on the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, otherwise on the EU standard contractual clauses recognised by the Swiss FDPIC.

5. How long we keep data

Consent cookie: 12 months.

Server logs: according to Cloudflare's own retention rules; we have no access to individual log entries.

Statistics: 14 months for user-level data in Google Analytics 4; aggregated reports longer.

E-mails: 12 months after our last message, unless a booking follows or the law requires longer storage.

6. Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion and restriction of processing, object to processing, receive your data in a common format and withdraw consent at any time. Write to chalet@snowstars.ch. We may ask you to prove your identity. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling with legal effects for you.

You can complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern, Switzerland. If you live in the EU/EEA, you can also complain to the data protection authority of your country; in the UK, to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

7. Cookies

The table lists the cookies this website can set. Fonts are stored on our own server; no font service is contacted.

Planned, not active: Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk, CLID, MUID), Meta Pixel (_fbp, _fbc), TikTok Pixel (_ttp, _tt_enable_cookie). They would run only after your consent, and we will update this page before switching them on.

8. Changes

We update this page when the website or the law changes. The current version with its date is always on this page.
